Case report: Lupus mastitis
N Y Chauke-Malinga
Abstract
Lupus mastitis is a rare benign, non-suppurative inflammatory condition of the breast, and is defined by deep subcutaneous adipose tissue inflammation. It is a recognised variant of lupus panaculitis (also known as lupus profundus), which in itself is a rare presentation of systemic lupus erythematosus or discoid lupus, found in only 2 - 3% of patients.
