Modified Rintala flap in post-nasal tumour excision
Abstract
The Rintala flap, a versatile flap in reconstruction of the nasal dorsum, is described in an African nose where scarring is a great challenge post tumour excision. We demonstrate that the flap can provide good tissue coverage, excellent flap viability, colour match and less scarring in selected patients. The flap is single-stage, and can be achieved under local anaesthesia and with a good learning curve. The outcome was satisfactory, with acceptable scarring.
